One of the finest communications receivers of its era in beautiful condition.I just completed servicing this fine piece and would love to keep it but it would mean getting rid of one of my vintage televisions which I love more. The service performed included: replacing a number of capacitors, resistors, new 3 wire, grounded plug AC cord, cleaning controls switches and a careful IFRF alignment.

Rather than mount the transformer somewhere on the chassis, I opted not to modify the radio in any way and placed it where it could easily be removed if someone wanted to re-configure it back to the 600 ohm impedance. The worst blemish (scratches) is on the top right rear and can be seen by clicking here. This particular model was a version of the SP-600 that was produced in small quantities in the 1960s, and according to one writeup was the only one with a product detector and switchable sidebands. ![]() Like other models in the series, this would likely require replacement of numerous capacitors and a thorough refurbishment. The seller in this case has started bidding at a very low level, but if history is any guide, a rare model like this one may indeed go for thousands of dollars when all is said and done at the end of the auction. Though the seller states its in need of restoration, Im pretty sure this one will get snagged up at end of auction. It is too bad that the Hammarlund boilerplate (including serial number) located on top of the VFO cover is missing. A photo of the chassis underside showing the product detector would have been nice. Recapping a JX-21A should not be as difficult as most SP-600s. Hammarlund installed ceramic disc capacitors on units built from about 1955 and later. It is missing the Hammarlund boiler plate and the two rivet holes are shown unused.
